Keller: ’16 predictions offered about all things local, beyond

On the national scene: U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio will get the Republican nomination for President.

Statewide: Gov. John Bell Edwards is being pressured by his Democratic Party leaders to move more to the left, especially on social issues, such as abortion and same-sex marriages. I pray he will resist the temptation.

Locally: Sheriff Mike Tregre has gotten the message from the past election and will make some changes in the department. The appointment of Major Joe Oubre was a great start. The next four years promises to be about protection now that politics is over.

Parish President Natalie Robottom has proven she knows how to get elected with good public relations. She will now concentrate on improving her personal relations.

In St. James, Parish President Timmy Roussel will stop working hard and with godly wisdom, work smarter.

Sheriff Willy Martin will stay focused and do what he has always done — be a great public servant.

“Boolie” Roussel, a regular at Danny Louque’s Thursday morning Bible group, will finally get the simplicity of salvation. It confuses many people.

“Wop” Foret will be asked by Les Miles to help with recruiting, especially a quarterback. He will be assisted by Tony Milazzo and Sonny Detillier.

In St. Charles, newly elected Parish President Larry Cochran worked hard, with much help, to get elected. To be successful as a public servant, he will have to surround himself with a few unselfish supporters with only the interest of what’s best for the parish.

In June, Sheriff Greg Champagne will be sworn in as the president of the National Sheriff’s Association.

What an honor!

He will accept the responsibility, concentrating on the Scripture that reads: “To whom much is given, much is expected.”

Closer to home, my daughter, Ronny Michel, will publish her first book, “Treasures in the Darkness” by July.

Finally, I will realize, accept and act as God is in control of everything, including me.
