LAPLACE — St. Joan of Arc Catholic School celebrated the Christmas season with the Living Nativity under the direction of Sr. Pier Carla Barone, FDP.

A St. Joan of Arc second grade class made Christmas cards to send to Safyre Terry, whose Christmas wish was to fill her card holder with as many cards as possible. Safyre lost her father and siblings in a tragic fire in 2013. Her mother signed over custodial rights to her aunt with whom Safyre has been living ever since. Students portrayed the characters in the story of the Nativity.

The children’s choir enhanced the reenactment with their singing.

The shepherds included Ori Fabre, Tyler Written and Hayden Hebert arriving at the manger to worship Jesus while Joseph, portrayed by Angel Reyalvarez, and Mary, portrayed by Blakely Heltz, admired Baby Jesus (Luke Jacob) in the manger.

The angels — Emma Dooley, Kamryn Weber, Ellie McCrossen and Molly Brady — announced Jesus’ birth.
