WACO, TEXAS — Former Riverside Academy basketball player Ricardo Gathers scored the 1,000th point of his college career Wednesday night as Baylor defeated New Mexico State 85-70.

Gathers had 998 points going into Wednesday night’s game and finished with 4 points to become Baylor’s 29th 1,000th point scorer. He also holds the school record for career rebounds with 969.

Gathers, a 2012 graduate of Riverside Academy, was Louisiana’s Mr. Basketball following the 2011 season and a two-time Gatorade Louisiana Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
