LAPLACE — In an effort to combat impaired driving, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said the Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a DWI checkpoint starting today (Dec. 11) from approximately 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday at an undisclosed location in St John the Baptist Parish.

“Our mission will be to find and remove impaired drivers from the road before they can cause injury or death to themselves or others,” Tregre said.

“Each year, on Louisiana’s highways, numerous people are killed or seriously injured in automobile crashes that involve impaired drivers. Motorists are asked to designate a sober driver before traveling to any place where alcohol will be consumed.”

To report impaired drivers, motorists are encouraged to dial 911 from their cellular phone or contact St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-652-6338.
