NEW ORLEANS — West St. John High School’s National Art Honor Society members are participating once again in the Celebration in the Oaks Children’s Christmas Tree Program.

Honor society members started the year off by brainstorming their concept.

The members came to the consensus the theme this year would be “A Cartoon Christmas.”

Each member carved a cartoon character from styrofoam and decorated it to be seasonally appropriate.

Hand-cut snowflakes were also created by the students to adorn the tree.

This year’s NAHS officers are President Christina Holmes, Vice President Dyrianne Tuckerson, Treasurers Glasia Walker and Tre’Von Barnes and Secretary Briana Grayman. Members include Kira Armant, Marcus Boudoin, Zian Bryant, Zo Bryant, Wonzell Dumas, Ke’ira Frank, Kidric Gray, Christopher Holmes, Kasia Lewis, Jarale Livingston, La’daja Populis, Maya Sanders, James Simon and Jamal Walters.

All members participated and the students were very excited to hang their handmade ornaments.

The children’s trees line the walkways of the Carousel Garden and Storyland in New Orleans City Park.
