LAPLACE — A local man may face jail time after his arrest Tuesday in connection with distributing child pornography, Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Lonnie Greco said.

Matthew Wade Guillory, 27, of 1804 Madewood Road in LaPlace was arrested at his home by the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office is a part of.

Guillory was taken into custody by the Task Force after they served a search warrant at his residence and obtained evidence connecting him to the crime, authorities said.

On Oct. 9, the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office “Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Section began an undercover operation into the distribution of pornography involving juveniles,” Greco said. “During the investigation, Guillory shared software files, by way of a computer network, with PPSO Detective Sergeant Aaron Verrette, who is a member of the ICAC Task Force and was working in an official undercover capacity.

“Upon examining the files Guillory shared, Sergeant Verrette determined they contained multiple images of what appeared to be child pornography. Further review of the shared files reveled that they contained nude photographs, in addition to sexual intercourse videos, of prepubescent females between the approximate ages of six to 13 years of age.”

Verrette discovered child pornography was transmitted over the Internet from Guillory’s home.

“He was located at this residence and subsequently told investigators that for the past year he has searched and downloaded child pornography from the Internet,” Greco said. “Guillory admitted to investigators that the youngest victim he had downloaded appeared to be an infant.”

During the preliminary examination of Guillory’s computer hard drive; investigators located multiple videos of child pornography. The computer was seized as evidence and will undergo a forensic examination by the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office Cyber Crime Unit.

Additional charges may be filed, pending the results of that examination.

Guillory was taken to the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office jail, where he was booked with four counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of video voyeurism, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, an outstanding Plaquemines Parish theft warrant and as a fugitive from Plaquemines Parish for one count of distribution of child pornography.

He remains in custody and will be taken to Plaquemines Parish at a later time.

“If convicted, Guillory faces up to 20 years in prison for each count of pornography involving juveniles,” Greco said.
