Just like football and volleyball, the high school swimming season is coming to an end.
The State swimming championship will be held Wednesday for preliminaries and Thursday for finals.
The St. Charles Catholic swim team will be traveling to Sulphur to compete this year because many of the Comets’ best swimmers have qualified, several in more than one event.
SCC’s Meredyth Buisson qualified in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Bailey Bourgeois is state eligible for the 200-yard individual medley.
Evan Brady and Kelly Campbell made it for the 100-yard backstroke.
Jack Chapman qualified in the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle.
Daniel Jaubert is eligible in the 200-yard freestyle, 50-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley.
Jacob Jensen made state in the 50-yard freestyle. Olivia Keating made it in 100-yard breaststroke.
Brooke LaBorde qualified in the 100-yard backstroke and Rebecca Laurent in the 50-yard freestyle.
Alex Miller qualified for state in the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard individual medley and 50-yard freestyle.
Morgan Nobile made it for 100-yard breaststroke and 50-yard freestyle.
Alex Noel is eligible for state in the 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard fly, 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley.
Breigh Peytavin qualified in 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard free, 100-yard breast and 100-yard freestyle.
Grace Richoux qualified in the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard fly, 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard free and 500-yard free.
Caroline Roberts is state eligible for the 50-yard freestyle.
Nick Roberts qualified with the 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle.
Jeanne Roussel made it with the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard fly and 100-yard freestyle.
Jordan St. Pierre qualified with the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley.
Maddie Sympson qualified in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard fly.
Kelsie Williams made it with the 200-yard individual medley, 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
Zoe Zaidain qualified in 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Dominique Perrilloux also qualified.
State rules say only four swimmers from each school can participate in each category and only one four-person relay team can compete in each relay.
Not every St. Charles Catholic swimmer will be allowed to compete in every category in which they qualified for spacing reasons.
“It is always better to have too many swimmers qualified than to not have enough,” St. Charles catholic swim coach Michelle Jensen said.
The Comets also had 15 swimmers earn All District honors in October.
Last year, the SCC boys’ team placed fourth at the LHSAA Championship Swim Meet Division 3 and the girls’ team placed seventh.
