GONZALES — The River Region Chamber of Commerce donated $2,500 to the River Parishes Community College Foundation to fund scholarships for area students.
“We are dedicated to helping any future student that we can to do well in what they feel passionate about,” said Chassity McComack, executive director of the Chamber. “These are our future leaders.”
McComack, along with the Chamber’s Board of Directors chair-elect Annette Wray, presented a check to Chancellor Dale Doty at the annual meeting of the RPCC Foundation Board of Directors.
“This is a great example of the synergy we look for; both the River Region Chamber of Commerce and River Parishes Community College want to build a strong economy and a vibrant community,” Doty said. “We are proud the Chamber is once again investing in that shared vision, and are extremely grateful for their investment in our students.”
Foundation board members and McComack discussed a variety of ways the two institutions could work in partnership, including educating business leaders, working collectively on education issues and information sharing. “We are looking forward to a healthy future with RPCC,” McComack said.
River Parishes Community College in Gonzales is an open-admission, two-year, postsecondary public institution.
