LAPLACE — According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to impact Southeast Louisiana including St. John Parish through Saturday night as a result of a cold front slowly moving across the region.

The low pressure system may bring rainfall amounts of one to three inches with the possibility of locally higher amounts. Heavy rainfall, possible street flooding and higher than normal lake levels are the main threats.

The severe weather threat is expected to diminish after Sunday. Residents are encouraged to remove any debris from catch basins and storm drains in advance of rainfall and avoid placing debris in ditches, drainage canals and on the side of the road that may impede drainage or become projectiles.

The St. John Parish Emergency Operations Center is monitoring weather forecasts for any changes. Public Works and Utilities Departments will be on call if any issues arise over the weekend. Residents should report any emergencies, including street flooding, and all weather related concerns by dialing 911.
