Gaines researches at Princeton

LAPLACE — Breon Gaines was recently selected to perform research at Princeton University in Princeton, N.J.

She was selected to participate in Princeton University’s Neuroscience Institute Summer Internship program and also awarded a Princeton Summer Internship Scholarship.

While at Princeton, Gaines worked in the Cell Biology Lab performing research regarding viral disease transmission in neurons using immunofluorescense and microscopy.

During the course of the neuroscience research program, Gaines gave updates on her research projects as well as briefings and a formal scientific study results poster presentation. Participation in this exceptional research program enabled Gaines to acquire knowledge regarding the effect of viruses on the central nervous system.

Gaines is a junior pre-med/psychology major at Spelman College in Atlanta. She is the daughter of State Rep. Randal L. Gaines and Dr. Camalyn Woodard Gaines of LaPlace.
