St. Charles Borromeo welcomes all alums

DESTREHAN — Alumni of St. Charles Borromeo School in Destrehan are invited to grab a lawn chair and attend a Come Back Home celebration in conjunction with the annual church parish Family Day Picnic Oct. 18.
Anyone who ever attended St. Charles Borromeo School, elementary or high school, is considered an SCB Alum and encouraged to participate.
The event, which begins with 11:30 a.m. Mass under the Oak trees and lunch at 12:30 p.m. will include music and children’s activities.
Alumni activities will begin at 1:30 p.m. and include guest speaker Ernest “Red” Simon, 1952 valedictorian and author of a book about his alma mater.
Doris Menezes, 1953 valedictorian, will present her thoughts on Catholic eduction, school memorabilia will be on display, Alumni oral histories will be recorded and campus tours will be available.
Organizers said it is a great opportunity to relive memories, reconnect with classmates, and meet new friends.
