John J. Coniglio Sr., 81, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015.

He was a native of Independence and a resident of LaPlace.

Coniglio served in the U.S. Army and later retired from Shell Chemical Co.  In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening.
He was the beloved husband of the late Joycelyn Boudreaux Coniglio; loving father of John Coniglio Jr. and Gina C. Cancienne (Jason); grandfather of Aaron (Mary), Jason (Laura), Christopher (Aimee) and Jonathan (Anna) Cancienne, Adam (Chelsey) and Lauren (Colten) Coniglio; great grandfather of Avery, Ashton, Aleah, Kamryn, Cayden, Cooper and Emerson Cancienne and Ava Coniglio; son of the late Sam and Josephine Coniglio; and brother of Sammy, Anthony and the late Carlo and Joseph Coniglio.

He is also survived by his companion, Yvonne Keating.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. 5th St. in LaPlace on Friday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m.

Visitation will begin in the church at 10 a.m. Interment is in St. John Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
