LAPLACE — Steve Fraker, a local business owner and president of the St. John Parish Business Association, announced he would seek election to the St. John the Baptist Parish Council in District 7.

Fraker said he is entering the race based upon the community’s dissatisfaction with candidates and their lack of experience in real matters that effect everyday life. Service begins with listening to the needs of the public.

Fraker is president of Economy Bookkeeping and Tax Service in LaPlace, which serves the parish. He is recognized by the National Society of Accountants and the National Tax Preparers Association.

“Inevitably, when you are working with a client’s business or completing taxes, the topic turns to politics,” Fraker said. “People are not looking for another professional politician.

“They want someone who is in the trenches with them. They need someone who has proven he can resolve problems. They need someone with intestinal fortitude who takes on the IRS, the State of Louisiana and the parishes throughout the state.”

Fraker said he helps real businesses become successful.

Fraker also serves on the Board at the Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the Zoning Board of Adjustments, as president of the Live Oak Landing H.O.A. and the Coastal Zone Management Committee. He serves on the LSU Ag Committee. He served in the United States Marine Corps.

“I hear the concerns of the public who want levee protection, drinkable safe water, drainage improvement and viable business expansion for not just the large but all sizes of business,” Fraker said.

“I started the recognition of the “Deputy of the Month” along with the Sheriff’s Department and am a strong advocate of the community relationship with all law enforcement.

“I think we are blessed to have assets such as the Post of South Louisiana, the Petro Chemical Industries and the South Central Louisiana Technical College. We have unused shore line with our three main lakes and we need to establish recreational and fishing areas for generations to come.

“We, here in the River Parishes and this great state of Louisiana are the essence of America. We are hard working, God Loving and willing to roll up our sleeves to help anyone. I would enjoy listening to your advice and concerns and look forward to serving you.”
