LAPLACE — The St. Charles Catholic High School’s Alumni Association announced its Annual Alumni Cook-off would take place in conjunction with the school’s Homecoming activities Oct. 9.

The Alumni Association, with Brock Anderson as its chair, is seeking entrants for this year’s contest. All those interested in participating are asked to contact the school to sign up. Entry forms are available on SCC’s website and are due by Oct. 5.

The head chef must be an SCC alumni, and contestants must supply their own ingredients or secure a sponsor to pay for the ingredients. The contestants will also supply all of their own cooking. SCC will provide all serving dishes and utensils.

Food may be cooked offsite but should be cooked on Oct. 9. All entries must be complete, delivered to St. Charles Catholic High School and ready to be served by 5:30 p.m.

Chefs wishing to cook on SCC grounds are welcome to do so beginning at 10 a.m. Cooking booths will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Any ingredient that accompanies a dish, such as rice or pasta, must be provided by the contestant. These items may be prepared off site. Each contestant should cook a recipe that will produce 100 servings.

A group of judges including New Orleans Saints special teams Coach Greg McMahon will judge all entries.

After samples to be judged have been collected, an announcement will be made to start serving the public at approximately 5:30 p.m. Contestants or their designees must serve their dish until 7:30 p.m. or until their pot is empty. A First Place chef’s paddle decorated by SCC’s art class will be awarded.

The public is invited to come out and taste the great cooking Oct. 9. The cost is $5 for one bowl or $10 for four taster bowls.
