LAPLACE — Westbank Urgent Care, the highest patient-volume urgent care on the West Bank, recently announced plans to expand its facilities to a second location known as The Urgent Care – Laplace, located at 113 Belle Terre Blvd. in LaPlace.

The expansion allows for over 105,000 residents in St. John the Baptist Parish and St. Charles Parish to have access to the same medical services and after-hours availability as Westbank Urgent Care in Gretna, company officials said.

“Our decision to expand to LaPlace is to give back to our loyal, long-time patients from St. John Parish who travel more than 30 miles just to be treated at our Gretna location,” said Dr. Douglas Mehaffie, medical director of Westbank Urgent Care and The Urgent Care – Laplace.

“We want to give patients in the surrounding area the same access to our medical services as our Westbank and New Orleans patients.”

The new facility, The Urgent Care – Laplace, will be supplied with the latest state-of-the-art medical equipment, technology and medical software.

Medical services include, but are not limited to, X-rays, EKGs, lab tests, physicals, vaccinations, treatments and a wide variety of minor medical procedures.

Belle Terre Urgent Care will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. The clinic is also open on holidays.

The public is welcome at The Urgent Care – Laplace’s Grand Opening, which takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 12. There will be entertainment for children and adults. Activities include a rock climbing wall, snoball truck, music, food, drinks and a raffle with prizes.
