LAPLACE — Parish officials and the Keep St. John Beautiful Committee are registering volunteers for the annual Fall Clean Sweep, planned Sept. 19.

Clean Sweep is a parish-wide clean-up day involving hundreds of volunteers from schools, government agencies, churches, civic organizations, homeowner associations and industry.

The fall event will kick off at 8:30 a.m. at Thomas F. Daley Memorial Park with distribution of garbage bags, gloves, trash clamps and T-shirts.

The Clean Sweep Committee targets major thoroughfares for cleaning, but volunteers are encouraged to clean areas around their homes and businesses. In appreciation of the volunteers and their commitment to keeping St. John beautiful, free food and refreshments will also be provided following the clean-up activities.

Groups and individuals interested in participating are asked to sign up in advance at sjbparish.com or call Dana Milioto at 985-652-9569 to reserve specific neighborhoods or public areas.

Supplies can be picked up in advance Sept. 18 at the Percy Hebert Building.
