Boe announces candidacy for District 7 Council seat

LAPLACE — Buddy Boe, a certified Louisiana economic developer and the chief administrative officer managing St. Charles Parish government, announced he will seek election to the St. John the Baptist Parish Council in District 7.

“I look forward to working to build a council that will solve problems, construct flood protection and grow our economy to create jobs for our families,” Boe said.
Boe’s platform includes building flood protection, simplifying the Planning & Zoning process and supporting economic development efforts of the parish and the Port of South Louisiana to create an environment that supports local businesses and attracts new investment.
As CAO in St. Charles Parish, Boe said he was instrumental in building the financing package for the construction of a complete flood protection system. Boe was recently named the Outreach Coordinator for the Louisiana SuperRegion Rail Authority, the government agency tasked with creating passenger rail opportunities from Baton Rouge to New Orleans.
Earlier this year, Boe was elected Chairman of the National Association of Counties NextGen Network. In 2014, Boe was named the Changemaker of the Year throughout Greater New Orleans for his work on flood insurance. Recently, Boe graduated from the Delta Leadership Institute Executive Academy organized by the Delta Regional Authority and the Norman C. Francis Leadership Institute.
“It has been an intense several months of deep reflection to come to this decision, but I am certain that this is the position where I can do the most good for the residents of District 7, St. John Parish and the River Region,” Boe said.
“I will further strengthen my knowledge to assist our next administration as I pursue a masters of public administration this fall and a law degree in the future.
“I understand our community’s desire to see the parish administration move in a different direction and seeing polling results that indicated the people’s concern over leadership made this decision even more difficult.”
Boe is a graduate of Tulane University. For the past three years, Boe served as the instructor for the River Region Young Entrepreneurs Academy teaching students in grades 6-12 how to start a business. In the past, Boe has served on the Board of the LaPlace Lions Club, St. John Theatre and was selected as the Young Citizen of the Year by the LaPlace Rotary.
Boe previously served as the Public Information Officer and Acting Chief Administrative Officer for St. John Parish.
