Two women and four children avoided injury when someone attempted to set the home they were in on fire after firing shots at the residence.
St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Office deputies responded at 3:12 a.m. Tuesday to the 100 block of Joe Parquet Circle in LaPlace after gunshots were reported in the area.
Sheriff Mike Tregre said the 26-year-old female complainant told deputies she heard three or four gunshots directly behind her residence.
Her residence was occupied by two adult women and four children, ages 7 and under. No one was injured, Tregre said.
“When a deputy conducted a survey of the area, he saw some burning paper that had ignited the grass under the kitchen window of the residence and detected the odor of gasoline,” Tregre said. “The deputy smothered the flames with his boots.”
Further investigation revealed a bullet hole in the residence.
