RESERVE — A St. James Parish man is facing a DWI charge and other offenses after getting pulled over in Reserve.
Sheriff Mike Tregre reported a St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Office deputy pulled over a vehicle at 9:04 p.m. July 31 on West Airline Highway, west of Terre Haute Road in Reserve because of speeding.
“When the driver exited his car, he almost fell and used the side of his car for balance as he staggered to the rear of the car,” Tregre said in a release. “The deputy smelled the odor of alcoholic beverage on the driver and his breath.”
The deputy identified the driver as Michael Silva, 50, of Lutcher.
Silva was arrested and booked with speeding, third offense DWI and operating a vehicle while under suspension for a certain prior offense.
Silva bonded out of jail Sunday on a $55,250 bond.
