ST. JAMES — Local farmers and community members recently took an evening off to enjoy the 54th Annual St. James Parish Appreciation Dinner.

The dinner is held each year by parish sugar cane producers and a number of generous sponsors for research, extension, and industry personnel.

Speakers were Dr. Rogers Leonard, Plant and Soil Program Leader for the LSU AgCenter and Dr. Mike Strain, Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry.
