Today

Pastors Promoting Unity will host a mini conference from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at First Community Antioch Baptist Church in Lutcher. There is a $15 registration and breakfast and lunch are included. Topics include pulpit etiquette and ministry in the 21st Century.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a Backpack Extravaganza at Regala Gym, located at 194 Regala Park Road in Reserve. Free backpacks, school supplies and hygiene kits will be given to the first 500 children. A parent or guardian must be present with children. For more information call 985-359-9954.

The West St. John Stakeholders organization is sponsoring a fun day, focusing on community, educational and employment resources from 1 to 5 p.m. at the West St. John High School Gym for residents of the West Bank. All ages are invited.

SUNDAY

New Wine Christian Fellowship, located at 1929 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace, will hold a reception immediately following its 10 a.m. service in celebration of its 20-year anniversary.

TUESDAY

Riverside Academy will offer a volleyball skills camp July 28 and 29. Illinois State Head Coach Melissa Myers and Louisiana Tech Head Coach Adriano de Souza will facilitate the camp. The camp is open to fifth through 12th graders, with registration fees between $40 and $90. Call 956-369-1606.

“How to Research Your French Ancestors Online – For Free,” will be presented at the German-Acadian Historical and Genealogy Society meeting at 7 p.m. at LaPlace’s St. John the Baptist Parish Library, 2920 U.S. 51. The program is free and open to the public.
