LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said detectives have no motive or suspects in a shooting that injured two people Tuesday afternoon in LaPlace.
Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a call from Ochsner River Parish Hospital at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, where personnel reported a 30-year-old male victim walked into the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his back near his left shoulder.
“He was transferred to a New Orleans area hospital for treatment,” Tregre said via a release. “Thirteen minutes later dispatchers received a call, and the caller stated that he was driving from the Belle Pointe Subdivision to Ochsner River Parish Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.”
Tregre said the 29-year-old male caller drove himself to the hospital but later refused treatment and left the hospital against the advice medical personnel. He sustained a gunshot wound to his arm.
Deputies responded to the hospital and Belle Pointe Subdivision to investigate, Tregre said, adding a third passenger in the car, a 28-year-old man, told investigators he was passenger in the rear seat of the car during the shooting but was uninjured.
The 30-year-old victim was the driver, officials said, and the 29-year-old victim was the front seat passenger.
Tregre said the initial investigation revealed to investigators that possibly two shooters fired multiple shots in the direction of the car.
