- July 5, 1973: LaPlace resident Glenn Haydel poses with his collection of horsemanship trophies. Haydel won the reigning division at the state 4-H Horse Show in Baton Rouge before going on to compete in the National Youth Horse Congress in Dallas.
Thursday, July 9, 1992: The eighth grade team of The Glade School swept the top five positions in the Louisiana-Mississippi math contest. Brandon Mark, first place, from left; Liz Stein, second place; Heather Douglas, third place; Allison Quinn, fourth place; Lindsey Miller, Aaron Prough and Erin Pyne all tied for fifth place.
