St. John the Baptist Parish Councilman Larry M. Snyder Sr. has announced he is seeking re-election to the Council District 6 seat.
“It has been rewarding and an education, in so many ways, to have served the people of St. John Parish and Council District 6,” he said.
“I thank you for your faith in me to serve you and not practice politics as usual. We’ve had many challenges the last few years and the parish came through well.”
Snyder said Hurricane Isaac was devastating, but lives were spared.
“The communities of Cambridge, Riverlands and The Colony have continued to be revitalized by its residents.,” he said. “The parish continues to move forward with industries expanding, new industry committed and the growth of our Vo-tech school in Reserve, preparing our young people for the job markets of the future.”
Snyder said through the passing of bonds, the parish has breathed new life in recreation, modernizing our potable water and waste water infrastructure.
Plans for a new large scale pumping station on Vicknair Canal to alleviate street flooding for District 6 are also in the works.
“All these efforts will give value to the quality of life for all our residents,” Snyder said. “The CDBG Program is starting to pick up pace and will help all those that applied and qualified.
“The learning curve is complete, and it’s time to take the next step. I’m seeking re-election for council District 6 to continue to represent you in District 6 and all of St. John the Baptist Parish so we can make that step together.”
Snyder said through a cooperative effort of all elected officials, community members can realize real progress for St. John Parish.
“I was born, reared and educated in St. John Parish,” he said. “I’m retired from DOW Chemical and will live my life out here. I won’t leave the parish after my time in office is up. So I ask you to allow me the privilege of continuing to represent and serve District 6 on St. John Parish Council.
“I promise real representation and no politics.”
