Earline Oubre Guidry is now receiving her eternal reward from our heavenly Father, passing away peacefully in her home in Gramercy on Friday, July 3, 2015.
She is survived by her dedicated and beloved husband of 62 years, Nolan J., Guidry.
Guidry was born April 14, 1933, to the late Leonia Kilburn Oubre and Henry J. Oubre Sr. She is also survived by one sister, Teresa Oubre Gueret.
Guidry was preceded in death by two brothers, Nolan J. Oubre Sr. and Henry J. Oubre Jr., and three sisters, Doris Oubre Calcagno, Shirley Oubre Dicharry and Madeline Oubre Marino.
She will always be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, for whom she was a model of a loving and caring Christian, as well as a mother and a grandmother figure to many who lost their mothers and grandmothers at an early age.
Guidry was a Eucharistic Minister, a lector for weekend masses, a member of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Choir, taught religion classes to the youth of the parish, worked with the Rite Christian Initiation of Adults and was a member of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Council.
She was also employed at the Catholic Life Center in Baton Rouge, working for Bishops Stanley Ott, Alfred Hughes and Robert Muench. Her prior employers were McMillan Insurance Agency, Colonial Sugars, Sucrose Chemical, Freeport Chemical and H & R Block.
Nolan wishes to express his sincere thanks to Earline’s compassionate sitters who cared for Earline the last few years of her life.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Gramercy on Monday, July 6 with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. A Christian burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Paulina.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Guidry’s name to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Gramercy would be greatly appreciated by her family.
