Hoover started his career as a patrol officer in 1990.

While working under three sheriffs, Hoover said he has been provided the opportunity of seeing the inner workings of the department.

Hoover said he was often referred to as “the man who could get things done,” adding he worked his way up through the chain of command and was promoted to the rank of Captain.

Throughout his career, Hoover said he has demonstrated his ability in proactively serving the community, handling stressful and crisis situations, repeatedly emphasizing the importance of training (law enforcement and civilian) and demonstrating the real significance of investing in youth and caring for the elderly.

“I have spent the majority of my adult life serving the people of St. John Parish,” Hoover said.

“My goal is to make St. John Parish safer with a balance of enforcement, community policing and education.”

The election is Oct. 24.
