LAPLACE — Three River Region students were among a dozen New Orleans area high school graduates who recently received Entergy Community Power Scholarships of $5,000 each for volunteerism and academic success.

Entergy annually selects graduating seniors from families of employees for this honor.

“The future is so bright for these leaders,” said Patty Riddlebarger, director of corporate social responsibility for Entergy.

“This year’s recipients share exemplary talent, brains and caring for others.”

Honored students included:

• Trey Nathan, who graduated from West St. John High School in Edgard, is the son of Tina and Anthony Nathan.

Tina Nathan is an administrative assistant in document controls and records management at Waterford 3.

Trey Nathan will attend Grambling State University and major in mechanical engineering.

• Emily Bergeron, who graduated from St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace, is the daughter of Chris and Deidre Bergeron.

Chris Bergeron is a senior engineer at Waterford 3 nuclear plant.

Emily Bergeron plans to attend Louisiana State University and major in chemical engineering.

• Olivia Messina, who graduated from Destrehan High School in Destrehan, is the daughter of Joe and Ronnette Messina.

Entergy officials said supporting educational opportunities and recognizing volunteerism through the Community Power Scholarships program helps enhance Entergy’s commitment to improving communities by helping prepare young people to be effective contributors to their communities, both through employment and volunteer activities.

The program is aligned with Entergy’s ongoing initiative to develop a future workforce, a crucial element to expanding economic development and meeting the future needs of customers.
