LULING — St. Charles Parish Hospital, in collaboration with the St. Charles Parish Public School System, recently hosted three teacher interns from the School-to-Career Program.

The participants for this year’s program were Jeremy Eusea and Belinda Sopczak from Hahnville High School and Clayton Harris from Destrehan High School.

This unique 2-day program offered local educators a better understanding of the health care environment. Subjects covered included various careers their students may be interested in pursuing, information on the schooling required and areas of academic strength needed for particular fields of study, salary ranges and the daily demands of various jobs.

The first-hand experience they gain enables them to return to their classrooms and better educate students about particular jobs in the healthcare field. On the second day of the internship, the teachers interacted closely with different departments.

“I was blown away by the amazing technology and how clean the hospital was,” Sopczak said.
