RESERVE — The 10th Annual St. John the Baptist Parish Veterans Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. July 3 at the Louisiana Army National Guard Readiness Center, 4120 West Airline Highway in Reserve.

St. John has honored local military members for the past two years by showing a video adorned with pictures of fallen service members.

The video will be shown at the luncheon, live on the Independence Day broadcast and on St. John’s website and Facebook page.

Residents are asked to assist with the video by submitting photos of local veterans and service members.

Photos in military uniforms are requested.

Black-and-white and color photos will be accepted, and high-resolution digital files are preferred. Original photos will also be accepted, but become the property of St. John the Baptist Parish.

Organizers ask submitters to include the veteran’s name, rank and branch of the service with the photo, as well as contact information and name of the family member submitting the photo.

If a photo was submitted in the last two years, it is not necessary to submit a new photo.

The deadline to submit pictures is 4 p.m. June 19. Photos can be emailed to the Communications Department at communications@sjbparish.com or mailed to St. John Communications Department Attn: Veterans Tribute, 1801 W. Airline Hwy, LaPlace, LA 70068.

The 15th Annual Independence Day Celebration and firework show will take place on the evening of July 3 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Reserve and the St. John Courthouse in Edgard.

The celebration will begin at 6 p.m., and the live broadcast will air at 7 p.m. The firework show will start at 9 p.m.

The East and West Bank celebrations will be broadcast live on the government accesses channel for residents to watch at home.
