RESERVE — St. John Theatre’s two-week Children’s Theater Workshop starts next week.

Director Greer M. Millet will introduce children to musical theater by directing Cinderella KIDS.  The workshop culminates with a production June 12. Children having completed the first through fifth grades are encouraged to attend the workshop.

“I believe it is important to expose children to the arts at a young age,” Millet said. “This is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience all of the fine arts working together. They will be exposed to music, theater, art and dance.”

The workshop runs from Monday through June 12 at the theater, 115 West 4th Street in Reserve.

“Whether or not they realize the immediate benefits of the workshop, I have witnessed each child grow and progress to a more confident individual during the two weeks they are with me,” Millet said. “First of all, I applaud all parents who seek out this workshop for their children and support them in such a project. I would hope that they are putting their children in to expose them to the performing arts, and they are beaming with pride when they see the little ones perform.”

The workshop includes instruction in acting, singing, dancing and stagecraft.

Registration forms can be downloaded at stjohntheatre.com. The cost is $75.  Mail the form and a check to St John Theatre, P O Box 188, Reserve LA 70084. Pre-registration is encouraged. Walk-up registration is  permitted if space is available. Call Crystal Faucheux, theater managing director, at 985-536-6630 for more information.

“The culmination of the actual performance is not only a very rewarding one for me and my staff of SCC Stagehands, but it is also a wonderful experience for the family to enjoy together,” Millet said.
