The month of May is noted for Mother’s Day and graduation celebrations.

Graduations run the gambit this time of year from kindergarten to college. South Central Louisiana Technical College, Reserve Campus is preparing for its spring commencement to be held May 22 on the Nicholls State University Campus.

We are pleased to have as our guest speaker, Paul Aucoin, executive director of the Port of South Louisiana. The Reserve Campus of South Central Louisiana Technical College will join its sister campuses the Young Memorial Campus in Morgan City, the Lafourche Campus in Thibodaux and the Galliano Instructional Center in Galliano for this commencement ceremony.

The SCLTC, Reserve Campus will offer for the first time a Process Technology Fast Track program beginning May 4. This program is designed for individuals who hold a post-secondary degree and have interest and experience in the process technology operations to obtain their Associate of Applied Science degree in a 16-week period.

This compressed format will be another means to facilitate instruction that can address the high demand for this occupation in the River Region. The next Process Technology Fast Track program will begin August 31. If you are interested in being a part of this cohort you may begin applying now.

Summer brings the opportunity for currently enrolled high school students who have not graduated to take courses with our college and begin their post-secondary education prior to graduation.

They must be at least 16 years of age and be a currently enrolled high school student in good standing. For those students who want to get a jump start on their career path by taking courses not available at their local high school or have not had the opportunity to take courses of their interest, this is an excellent opportunity to utilize some of their summer break.

Our Business of Administration department will be offering the following one-day only classes beginning with People Skills on Aug. 21, Excel Beginners on Sept. 18, Excel Intermediate on Oct. 16, Data Base Beginners on Oct. 30, Business Communications & Writing on Nov. 13, Meeting Protocols on Nov. 20 and Business Training & Development on Dec. 11.
