RESERVE — Entergy officials, in coordination with the St. John Parish Emergency Operations Center, will test the Waterford 3 siren system between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. today throughout the parish.

Waterford 3 recently made upgrades to the siren system. The test will include sounding three outdoor warning sirens in St. John the Baptist Parish.

The following locations will be tested (in order) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

• Siren 63 located near Marathon Recreation Facility in Reserve.

• Siren 52 located on Louisiana 643 next to the Anchon Inn in Pleasure Bend.

• Siren 46 located on Louisiana 18 near Johnson’s Curve in Wallace.

Each siren may be sounded three to four times throughout the day while testing takes place.

Each test will not run longer than one minute.

Protective action will not be required by residents during the test.

In the event of an actual emergency during testing, the siren will be activated for five minutes.

Please immediately tune into the government access channel (RTC &  Comcast 15 or UVERSE 99) or WWL 870 a.m. radio station to receive information if this occurs.

Funded by Entergy, outdoor sirens in St. John the Baptist Parish are used only if there is a nuclear emergency at the Waterford 3 Nuclear Plant in Killona.
