ST. JAMES — The Riverside boys earned second place and the Lady Rebels third at Tuesday’s district track and field meet at St. James, in the process earning a number of individual qualifiers for regional action.

“We had some strong performances,” Riverside track and field coach Joe Trosclair said. “We had a real disappointment when our 4×2 boys team was disqualified, because those guys had one of the best marks in our class going in, but they regrouped to win the 4×100 and that was big. On the girls side, we were stronger in the track events than we’ve been in the past and we saw some really good things there.”

The top four performances in each event qualified for the regional, which will take place Tuesday at Southeastern University.

For the Rebel boys, Jordan Andrews finished first in the high jump (5’10”) and fourth in the long jump (18’9.5”). JuJuan Bell finished second in the high jump (5’8”) and in the triple jump (41’3”). Herb McGee was fourth in the triple jump (37’10”).

James Davis took first in the discus (123’1”) and second in the shot put (45’5.75”). Curtis Laborde (35’10.75”) took fourth in the shot put. Cameron Cook took first in the javelin (132’4” while Tannor Triche finished second (119’9”).

In the track events, Darrion Cook was fourth in the 100 (11.61). Von Julien captured second in the 200 (23.08) while Kendall Martin was fourth (23.65). Dylan Auddifred took fourth in the 3200 (13:06.96). Brandon Sanders finished third in the 110 hurdles (18:80). Payton LaFountain took first in the 300 hurdles (45.67).

The 4×100 relay team of Cook, Martin, Bell and Julian won first (43.93) while the 4×400 relay squad of Tyler Gauthier, Cook, Julien and Hardell Mack earned fourth (3:44.94).

On the girls side, Rae Alexander earned second in the long jump (15’8”) while Ja’Keyra Gautreaux took fourth (14’11”). Alexander also took third in the high jump (4’4”) and Gautreaux fourth (4’4”), while Gautreaux added second place in the triple jump (31’11.5”). Jamie Triche took fourth in the discus throw (57’6”). Rayne Weber was first in the javelin (92’6”) while Kaci Becnel was second (90’2”).

On the track, Kennedy White earned second in the 100 (13.15). Toni Perrin won the 200 (27.11), with White taking fourth (28.58). Briley Becker earned fourth in the 1600 (7:12.61).

The 4×100 relay team of Perrin, White, Tajah Greenup and Alexander (51.99) and the 4×200 team of Kolbi Johnson, White, Perrin and Alexander each took first place (51.99). The 4×400 team (Johnson, Gautreaux, Perrin and Oshata Frankin) captured fourth (4:50.67).

“We feel like we’ve got a number of people with a chance to make it to state,” Trosclair said. “So we’re pretty excited to see what Tuesday will bring.”
