Rose Dantone Stassi, 98, went to her Heavenly home on April 20, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.

Stassi’s parents owned and operated Dantone’s grocery until 1962 where at some time, she and her siblings all worked.  Stassi, her sister Christine and daughter Mary Ann reopened as Renee’s dress shop from 1965 to 1990.

Stassi was a strong woman, loving and caring to her family. She enjoyed going to horse races, playing bridge with her friends and going to the casino. She spent many years making crafts.

Her true love was cooking. She took joy in watching as family and friends ate the meals she prepared. She will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by daughters Linda Faulk and Mary Ann Rusciano; grandchildren Michelle Bossier, Renee Donewar, Frank and Elizabeth Rusciano, Vincent and Lisa Rusciano; great-grandchildren Kevin, Brooklyn, Nicole, Amber, Frankie, Emily and Vinnie.

Stassi was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Mary Serio Dantone; husband Vincent Stassi; brothers Mitchell, Joe, Sam and Vincent; and sisters Sarah Hughey, Christine Dantone, Mary Locascio and Anne Buindo.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Friday, April 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday from 8 to 9:15 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina, O.P. presiding.   Interment will follow in Rose Memorial Cemetery.
