• St. Joan of Arc Church will present its altar today and Thursday in the Family Life Center on West Fifth Street in LaPlace.

The altar is open from 6 to 8 p.m. today and open for a viewing from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Food will be served at midday and in the evening.

• Ascension of Our Lord Church and School will hold its annual St. Joseph Altar Thursday through Sunday at the church, 1900 Greenwood Drive, in LaPlace.

On Thursday, the school Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m., and the blessing will follow Mass, with viewing until noon. On Friday, viewing will be from 9 a.m. to noon and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. after Stations of the Cross.

On Saturday, viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m.; and Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. with viewing from 3 to 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.; and viewing will be from 8 a.m. from noon.

Italian cookies, baked goods, wine, candles and Holy cards will be available for a donation, with proceeds going to the Saltillo, Mexico, missions.

• St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Ladies Altar Society is presenting an altar Thursday through Sunday at the community center in Edgard.

The viewing is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
