LAPLACE — A handwritten note posted to the window of a LaPlace store is serving as a notification to patrons that a Sunday wreck will keep the store closed until further notice.
Children’s World, the school uniform shop located at 924 Carrollwood Drive in LaPlace, was the site of a wreck Sunday in which a truck crashed through the facade of the store and came to a stopping point only when well within the establishment.
A call reporting a wreck with injuries at the store was made at 5:20 p.m. Sunday to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. Dane Clement said the man driving the truck does have a history of seizures, and a responding officer documented the wreck was “due to illness” on the police report.
Clement said the subject responsible for the wreck voluntarily submitted blood for drug and alcohol analysis immediately following the crash, adding the measure was taken out of procedure and precaution.
Clement said no arrests were made and no citations have been issued.
Results of the blood analysis were not available as of press time.
The note posted to the Children’s World window lists 504-275-9695 as an emergency contact number.
