ST. JAMES — Wayne Barnes and Joyce Geason Dumas, representing the Vacherie Senior Center, served as the 2015 “Young at Heart” Carnival Social king and queen.
The St. James Parish Department of Human Resources’ Elderly Services Program hosted the 18th annual carnival social this month at Rose’s Catering in St. James, where Parish President Timmy Roussel gave a toast.
Roussel, along with several parish councilmen, presented the king and queen with gifts.
St. James Parish Area Agency on Aging officials thanked Motiva Enterprises for being the major contributor for the past 18 years.
“Their generous financial support and sponsorship helps to make the carnival social an annual celebration of the senior’s contribution to the life, culture and vitality of the St. James Parish community,” a release from the parish said.
“The carnival social has been an exciting and exhilarating event for the elderly of St. James Parish; it has made a difference in the lives of our seniors.”
