DES ALLEMANDS — Excessive speed may have led to a fatal motorcycle wreck along on Des Allemands Bridge this week, authorities said. Louisiana State Police Trooper Melissa Matey said troopers were notified of the fatal crash on U.S. 90 near Louisiana 632 at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The wreck claimed the life of Wesley Price, 32, of Des Allemands.
The posted speed limit on the roadway is 55 mph, and preliminary investigation revealed Price was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on U.S. 90 at a high rate of speed. An exact speed will be determined later in the investigation, authorities said. Matey said the motorcycle struck the right curb of the bridge, and Price was ejected.
“He was pronounced dead on the scene,” Matey said. “Impairment is unknown, and toxicology results are pending an autopsy. Price was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.”
Authorities ask those who witness a hazardous driver or situation to call the Louisiana State Police at *LSP (*577) to report the activity.
