RESERVE — A vehicle has been seized and towed as evidence, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said Thursday, after daytime shots rang out Tuesday near children at play in Reserve.

Tregre said authorities recovered an assault weapon out of the vehicle and an arrest warrant will be sought and executed as part of the investigation.

As of Friday morning at press time, no arrest had been made.

Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of East 22nd Street and River Road in Reserve at 11:44 a.m. Tuesday following a report of gunshots fired.

A female victim, whose residence was struck by a bullet, told deputies she was in her house when she heard multiple gunshots.

When she ran outside to check on the welfare of children that were playing, she said she saw a car on East 22nd Street traveling fast toward River Road.

Authorities reported no one was injured.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting is encouraged to call the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
