LAPLACE — St. Charles Catholic fell in its regular season finale against Dunham Monday, but scored a decisive win over Parkview Baptist Saturday that likely cemented the Comets as a top 10 seed when postseason brackets are announced today.
SCC defeated Parkview 3-0, behind two goals by Albert Hane and another by Nick Roussel.
St. Charles coach Sean LeBlanc said the Comets benefitted from experience, facing a younger Eagles squad.
He said his team showed toughness against a Parkview squad that came out with more energy and drive than in the first meeting between the teams, also a Comets win.
“I thought we played a little tougher than in the first match,” LeBlanc said. “Parkview came to play. They played harder this time and made us work for everything we got. Fortunately we came out on top.”
Dunham, meanwhile, emerged with a 1-0 victory Monday.
“We had a lot of shots on goal,” LeBlanc said. “We just couldn’t put one in. Everything was great until the final execution.”
SCC will likely host its first round game. The Comets (12-4-3) finished district play as runner-up to University.
