LULING — Raymond K. Smith Middle School recently announced Lisa Gross as its teacher of the year.

Gross began her teaching career at G. W. Carver Elementary School as a WICAT Lab Teacher. She was blessed to become a member of the R. K. Smith family in her 11th year of teaching.

She teaches technology literacy to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students.  Gross is also a member of the School Improvement Team, serves as the leader of the Exploratory Team and Technology Cadre, and also is the technical site coordinator for the school.

Gross’ love for children, compassionate heart, nurturing spirit and desire to influence young minds to excel in their abilities enable her to be a positive role model in the school.

She finds joy in interacting with students and has a willingness to listen to their cares and concerns.

Gross also understands the importance of keeping the lines of communication open with parents and guardians, as well as peer teachers.

She believes in order to make a difference in the lives of children, the outreach among parents and guardians and school personnel must be genuine and unified.
