I, Kent St. Amant, am announcing my candidacy for the 2015 St. John the Baptist Parish presidency.

The time has come to elect a parish president that has a proven record of achieving results. St. John Parish is in a state of urgency, and together we can correct the many challenges we face.

An independent, strong voice for the residents of St. John Parish, I am an active member of the community with many years of serving in the public and private sector.

With your support, I will bring a fresh face and new ideas to the office, having never held public office. However, I have served in the following capacities:

• Deputy sheriff at the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office,

• Owned and operated several businesses in St. John Parish,

• Director of sales at Wyndham Resorts,

• Currently I am the Emily C. Watkins PTO president,

• Currently serve as a volunteer on the activity staff at the Southeast War Veterans Home,

• A proud member of the American Legion Post 383,

• United States Army veteran having served Honorably.

I am a strong advocate for our children, the elderly and those with special needs, because they deserve nothing less.

My diverse background is why I’m best qualified to lead St. John Parish to much greater success. I look forward to meeting you and hearing from you on the campaign trail.
