PARADIS — J.B. Martin Middle recently announced its 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year as Sandra McCullough.

A resident of Luling, McCullough has been married to Mark McCullough Sr. for 18 years. They have five children and one granddaughter together.

McCullough received her masters in teaching with a focus on significant disabilities at the University of New Orleans and has been teaching for four years.

She serves as a member of the Louisiana Autism Spectrum and Related Disabilities Project and is a New Teacher Mentor and Special Education Chairperson for J.B. Martin. She works with students in the Afterschool Tutoring Program.

“I did not chose it, it chose me,” McCullough said of working with the disabled. “I need my students as much as they need me.”

McCullough now moves to the next level where she will be evaluated with other middle school winners for the district-level Middle School Teacher of the Year.
