NEW ORLEANS — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District is partnering with the Wounded War Heroes to provide wounded military veterans the opportunity to hunt at Indian Bayou.
The deer hunts will take place Jan. 13 and 15 at Indian Bayou, located in the Atchafalaya Basin Floodway System.
The hunts will be conducted within a restricted-use area at Indian Bayou that is reserved for wheelchair-bound and youth lottery hunts. Deer stands are wheelchair accessible and overlook winter food plots.
Veterans wishing to participate in this event should contact Wounded War Heroes at wwhft.net or Darryl Moore at dmo61@reagan.com.
Moore is a veteran and retired Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agent who is acting as liaison between the Army Corps and the Wounded War Heroes.
