LAPLACE — A three-day arrest spree dubbed “Operation Scrooge” resulted in the apprehension of 22 suspects last week, according to St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre.
Eight St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Task Force deputies and two Louisiana Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Officers led the arrest effort Dec. 9-11 on 31 outstanding warrants.
“The warrants consisted of felony and misdemeanor attachments, bench warrants for child support, fugitive warrants for other agencies and probation and parole warrants,” Tregre said.
According to Tregre, he has held the annual holiday campaign ever since taking office in 2012, and does so to “get the word out for people to come in and take care of their business.
“We have sounded the bell, and lots of people are responding,” Tregre said.
During the operation, authorities said deputies found one arrested subject in possession of crack cocaine, and that suspect was booked with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, illegal use of a CDS in the presence of a juvenile and child passenger restraint system.
Tregre said anyone wanting to see active warrants for St. John Parish should visit stjohnsheriff.org and click on the “active warrants” button on the homepage.
