Keller: Work to enjoy the present that is today

Any self-help program will stress that to be successful you must discipline yourself to live one day at a time.
The Bible says to fret not about tomorrow, because we know not what it will bring.
Successful business people plan their work and work their plan, one day at a time.
Today is a gift and that’s why it’s called the present.
With that said, it’s amazing that most of us talk about the past and the future more than the only day we have, which is today.
Recently, I read that people should make a plan, just for today, which can be used every day. Please allow me to share what I will try to do with God’s help.
Just for today — I will focus only on today and not tackle all my problems at once.
Just for today — I will remember that the joy of the Lord is my strength. If I choose to be strong, I must have joy.
Just for today — I will work on my character defects and not try to change anyone else, but allow God to change me.
Just for today — I will strengthen my mind by learning something new.
Just for today — I will look for an opportunity to help or encourage someone without anyone knowing.
Just for today — I will be agreeable and not critical. I’ll be courteous and not try to change anyone except myself.
Just for today — I will make a “to do list” of things I need to do today. I will not be anxious and waste time on indecisions.
Just for today — I will spend at least a half hour early in the morning, alone, praying and listening to God’s voice and get a better perspective on life.
Just for today — I will not be afraid of the future, even though I don’t know what it holds; I know that God does. I will enjoy my blessings and remember that as I give to the world, so will the world give to me.
This coming New Year, I will not make any resolutions other than to concentrate on these nine steps for 365 days, “one day at a time.”
