LAPLACE — River Region pet lovers have a new shopping option in the recently opened LaPlace-based PetSmart.

Serving customers at 1332 W. Airline Highway in the Riverlands Shopping Center, LaPlace Store Manager Richie Arnold said the location is a micro store that may eventually grow into a larger store.

The store offers grooming, bathing, pet supplies and pet food. It also sells small animals and hosts adoption events throughout the year.

The location is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

“This is a great addition to Riverlands Shopping Center and our community,” Parish President Natalie Robottom said. “We welcome PetSmart to St. John the Baptist Parish and wish them the best in their new location.”

Robottom, administrative staff members, Councilman Lucien Gauff and representatives of the River Region Chamber of Commerce joined PetSmart staff to celebrate the grand opening of their new location Nov. 8, when prizes were offered to the first 50 customers, as well as goodie bags filled with treats and toys for pets, T-shirts and more.
