Gun possession ends in prison

EDGARD — A Garyville man has been sentenced to serve seven and a half years with the Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Kendrick Anderson, 28, of Little Hope Street in Garyville pleaded guilty Oct. 13 and was sentenced to serve the time after a May 12 arrest for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a probation violation.
St. John the Baptist Parish D.A. Tom Daley said he is “committed to the strict enforcement of any crime involving a firearm as part of the joint strategy (with) the Sheriff’s Office to reduce violent crime in the parish.”
