EDGARD — An Edgard man wanted by the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to comply with his sex offender registration was arrested this week.
Jarriod Fiffie, 32, of Edgard surrendered to St. John deputies Sunday. He remains in custody in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
Sheriff Mike Tregre said Fiffie is in custody because of the persistent efforts of the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force.
“(Fiffie) failed to meet with deputies on May 23 for his annual sex offender registration to update his information,” a release from the Sheriff’s Office said. Attempts to contact Fiffie prior to the scheduled meeting and since had been unsuccessful prior to Sunday.
Fiffie was arrested in July 2011 for carnal knowledge of a juvenile and in April 2013 for not complying with his sex offender status.
In an unrelated Oct. 21 case, Kenneth Lee Sr., 46, of Colony Drive in LaPlace was sentenced to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for six years for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
