River Parishes Roundup: SJH, DHS, LHS all victorious

ST. JAMES 20, SOUTH PLAQUEMINES 12 – Lowell Narcisse and Dontaze Costly connected for a 98-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter en route to a 20-12 victory over District 8-2A foe South Plaquemines.
Narcisse completed 17 of 35 pass attempts for 350 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 74 yards and a score.
To say Costly was his favorite receiver would be an understatement: he hauled in seven receptions for 257 yards and two touchdowns. Aaron McKenney added four catches for 58 yards. Mason Scott and Brehlun Domino each had interceptions.
St. James outgained South Plaquemines 350-119 in total yardage. The teams combined for nine turnovers, South Plaquemines committing five.
DESTREHAN 42, CENTRAL LAFOURCHE 7 — Central Lafourche kept it close early, but No. 2 Destrehan (7-0, 4-0) pulled away in the second half to continue its roll through Class 5A.
Will Matthews led Destrehan with 201 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries. Kirk Merritt rushed five times for 93 yards and a touchdown. Malcolm Darensbourg passed for 93 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Scott returned an interception for a touchdown.
LUTCHER 47, TARA 8 — Lutcher bounced back from its loss to St. Michael with a dominating win at home over district foe Tara.
Returning from a one-game absence due to injury, Jontre Kirklin passed for 97 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 72 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Destin Porter and Kendrick Jackson also scored rushing touchdowns for LHS (4-3, 1-1). Gavin Englade and Gregory Clayton each hauled in touchdown receptions, while Tyler Williams recorded three sacks.
